Non-New Zealand Certificates or Endorsements
To work on a commercial vessel domestically in New Zealand waters or on a New Zealand-flagged ship while holding a foreign certificate you will first need to have this recognized by Maritime New Zealand (MNZ) as an equivalent to a New Zealand certificate or endorsement.
If you hold an Australian certificate, please refer to the Australian issued certificates specific information.
Through the recognition process you may find that you are required to undertake an MNZ oral exam with and approved examiner or complete some additional short training courses.
