Working in Maritime in New Zealand

To work on a New Zealand-flagged ship or domestic vessel within the New Zealand EEZ you will require:

1.

Recognition of your Foreign Certificate of Competency (CoC), maritime certificate or license issued by another STCW White List authority recognition by Maritime New Zealand (MNZ) as an equivalent a to New Zealand certificate or endorsement.

2.

Legal rights to work via an appropriate class of visa issued by Immigration New Zealand (INZ)

In our experience New Zealand maritime employers will only consider applications from overseas candidates once they have received recognition from MNZ to confirm equivalency.

Current processing time do vary by MNZ, we suggest that upon receipt of a completed application with all supporting documentation and the application fee paid, please allow 8 weeks for processing.
